Health care organizations are now facing review of compliance to HIPAA from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services increasing the need for protection of patient records in these organizations. The first ones to go are the large hospitals, and hospitals who have received complaints. CMS is not going to publicly announce who are being reviewed, but will release a report after the review. It will be interesting to see CMS' findings. The CMS also holds the power to fine these organizations, or levy other punishments.
